A lot has happened over the last 4 months when we first started hearing about what is now being called COVID-19.

While there is a lot of arguing and finger-pointing, one thing I think that most can agree on is that it has not affected everyone in the same way. Of course, that is easy to say. In practice, it seems that a lot of people are not considering that situations vary. I have heard from readers that tell me that their life has changed very little because they mostly stayed at home anyway.

There are people that have chosen to isolate more and wear masks because they have underlying medical conditions, work or live with older people, or just want to play it safe in a world where it is hard to know what to believe. Then there are those that have lost jobs and businesses throughout this terrible time.

On the bright side, there are many that become more self-sufficient. Plenty of people are doing things that they thought they were not capable of. There is a sense of pride and accomplishment in realizing that you and others are capable of more than you thought possible.

Throughout this time I have tried to work with others at Backdoor Survival to bring you helpful information. It has not been easy at times to determine what is most helpful when there are so many people in various situations throughout the country.

In my area we are just starting to see real clusters of COVID-19 whereas in other areas the disease has caused a lot of casualties. This is a big country. I think it is probably for the best if we all realize that so we can better understand that viewpoints and experiences may be vastly different than our own before we make really harsh judgments and statements about one another.

That being said, the point of this post is to check in with Backdoor Survival readers to see what topics they would like to see covered. I have not been out and about since January 31. My father has a lot of health issues and we are in a position where going out a lot is not necessary. I do read a lot and know that there is a lot going on but again this is a big country and both alternative and mainstream media can only tell a bit of the story.

I want Backdoor Survival to continue to have content that helps you as much as possible during this time of tragedy and change. Our goal is to provide helpful information without involving politics. We all have our opinions but when it comes right down to it, everyone’s basic needs are similar.

When I got up this morning I couldn’t help but think that it would be good to reach out to our readers and see what they need now that things are opening back up in many parts of the country.

So what can BDS discuss to help you? Are you having trouble sourcing anything? What do you want to know more about? Are you planning on spending more time in the great outdoors? What skills do you want to learn more about? What challenges have you faced due to isolation?

Feel free to respond in the comments section or email me at [email protected]

I wish you and your loved ones the best during this challenging time,
